Geelong fans descended on Melbourne to see their beloved team cover themselves in glory and secure their tenth premiership cup, capping an incredible winning streak. They become just the third team to win 16 games straight and finish with the ultimate success after Brisbane in 2001 and Carlton in 1995. The Cats had a perfect finals run; following their thrilling qualifying final win against Collingwood with an emphatic preliminary final victory against Brisbane to set up the mouth-watering Grand Final clash with the Sydney Swans. On an historic Saturday at the MCG Chris Scotts men proved their Premiership mettle, taking the coveted Premiership Cup back to Kardinia Park.
